Overview
Korea Accreditation Board(KAB) confirms and accredits the credibility of certification bodies’ main tasks. A number of private certification companies certify their customers, and KAB accredits these companies on behalf of the government gencies such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy(MOTIE), and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards(KATS).
Certification and accreditation are the processes that verify and manage the credibilities of products or services for customers through the third person’s evaluation. As a result, they can contribute to the market confidence and the economy growth. Also, manufacturing or service companies are able to achieve the competitiveness with enhanced quality infrastructure and expand their coverages.

Third party certification is attestation that Quality(Environmental) Management System of an organization is established and implemented in conformity with the requirements of ISO 9001 (ISO 14001) or its national standard KS Q 9001(KS I 14001). KAB accredits a certification body, meeting with requirements of ISO/IEC 17021, that is capable of performing quality (environmental) management system audits of an organization and determining its conformity.
An accreditation body in every country adopts ISO/IEC 17021 and IAF Mandatory document as accreditation criteria for a certification body of quality (environmental) management system.
