Participate in governance work

By participating at the governance level of standards development, you play a leading role in shaping the future of your sector.

Governance participation typically includes roles on ISO and/or IEC management boards and associated groups such as ISO Council, ISO Technical Management Board (TMB), IEC Council, IEC Council Board, IEC Standardization Management Board (SMB), and other advisory and strategic groups.

Current opportunities

Canadian Standardization Advisory Committee on Environmental, Social, and Governance (CSAC ESG)

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) has successfully advanced a proposal for the establishment of an ISO Strategic Advisory Group on the topic of environmental, social and governance (ISO/ TMB SAG ESG). To support the work of the ISO/ TMB SAG ESG, SCC is establishing a Canadian Standardization Advisory Committee on Environmental, Social, and Governance (CSAC ESG).

SCC is seeking experienced candidates from a variety of stakeholder groups to join the advisory committee. Ideally, these would be seasoned experts with standards experience in the environmental, social and/or governance fields. Canada will chair the work of the committee together with co-chairs from the UK and Brazil. The SAG will rely on three Task Groups to provide input and recommendations in for mapping existing standards, improving stakeholder engagement, and defining user needs.

Scope: The Canadian advisory group will provide input on Canada’s position related to work of the ISO/ Technical Management Board Strategic Advisory Group on ESG (ISO/TMB SAG ESG). This work will include providing advice on ISO’s value proposition within the ESG ecosystem and recommendations on how to leverage standards, accreditation, and conformity assessment tools to create coherence, trust, and accountability related to ESG and to align incentives from production processes to capital markets and regulators.
